On my personal Facebook Page, Facebook Live show Souvenirs, the songs of John Prine with Jon Weber on piano.
“He appears on stage with such modesty he almost seems to be backing into the spotlight. He sings rather quietly, and his guitar work is good, but he doesn't show off. He starts slow. But after a song or two, even the drunks in the room begin to listen to his lyrics. And then he has you.” - This was the first review singer/songwriter John Prine received from film critic Roger Ebert in 1970 at a folk club in Chicago. At that time Prine was working as a mailman by day and singing his songs at night. He wrote some of his most famous songs in his head while delivering mail.
On Saturday, May 1st at 7pm right here live on my Facebook page, come hear my take on some of John Prine’s most prolific songs... “Illegal Smile”, “Paradise”, “Angel From Montgomery” “Sam Stone” to name a few. Jon Weber will join as my musical director on the keys. I’m calling this show Souvenirs, because that’s exactly John Prine has left us with his haunting songs. See you on the first of May at 7pm. - Artwork by my brother Kevin Mulder
